Chachur Thampuran, a member if the branch of the royal Cochin Highness family was once proceeding in a Planquin to Thripunithura. The royal procession and attendants, the Nairs, The Namboothitris and others accompanying him halted on the way overpowered by severe thrist. It was at this jucture that konnacharya and a Namboothiri discipline of his happened to come that way. Though Thampuran had come to know of gifts of Konnacharya he wanted to make fun him and to ridicule him. “I have heard of you and your extraordinary powers. You should get me a few tender coconuts, I am certain that you will have climb the coconut trees to get them. All my men are very thirsty.”
Smiling the Acharya replies “I need not climb the coconut trees. I will bring the coconut trees near to you so that you cam pluck them”. Within a few minutes two full grown coconut laden with fruits came bending near to the Planquin of Thampuran. Thampuran’s men hurried to pluck the coconuts. But Thampuran prevented them. He immediately got down from the Planquin entourage and paid his respects to Konnacharya. The Acharya himself plucked a tender coconut and gave it to Thampuran. Afterwards the royal trees then went up and stood erect. Thampuran with an apolo y, then left the place.
